4-H Youth and Development
Our 4-H program provides a creative a supportive environment in which culturally diverse youth and adults can reach their full potential. Our local county program works to develop life skills to help young people become self-directed, productive citizens. We also work to empower adult volunteers who multiply the efforts of our local county Extension staff.
Our 4-H youth development program is a dynamic non-formal education program. It provides opportunities for youth to learn life skills and gain knowledge while having fun. The life skills learned in 4-H enable youth to become productive, well-informed, self-reliant, responsible adults. The 4-H year runs from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30. The last day to enroll for the new year is January 31, 2006. Enrollment for next year will begin October 1. Clubs are: C-C which meets on at First Assembly of God Church on the 2nd Monday at 5:30 p.m., Caprock which meets at the Forrest Fire Station on the 2nd Friday at 2:00 p.m., HiPlains which meets at House School, Roadrunners which meets at Tucumcari Middle School, S-J which meets at the San Jon Community Center, Tumbleweeds which meets at Logan School, Wranglers which meets on the Fairgrounds on the 2nd Monday, and Quay Broncs which meets at the Quay Community Center. Quay County 4-H Shooting Sports
Congratulations on a Great Shooting Sports Season. Practices are now over and our Novices and Juniors did Quay County Proud with their outstanding performances at District Contests. Be thinking about next year and get signed up early for the projects you want to do. We will start again in March in 2009 we had 40 youth participating in at least 1 of the 5 shooting disciplines. Several of our youth enroll in more than one project.
Attention Seniors, State will be the 1st weekend of May and we will need to know by April 1 if you want to go and in what disciplines you are interested in.
Parents we need more leaders, if you are interested there will be a training in February. Leaders must be trained before they can conduct 4-H shooting sports practices.
We had some great assistance with the funds provided by the NRA this year, but we need to do some fundraisers to be able to help all of the kids with their supplies. Our first is August 1, please call or e-mail soon and volunteer to help.
Quay County 4-H Recordbook Forms
Record books are due to your club leader on October 20, 2006. All 4-Hers may type all parts of their record books. Parents remember this is the 4-Hers record book and the judges will have the discretion to lower points if the work appears to be an adult's. Recordbooks may also be hand written. If you would like forms with lines, send an e-mail to Brenda Bishop and the forms will be e-mailed. Forms may also be picked up in the Extension Office.
Important!!! After you open the recordbook forms on your internet server, click on file, save as, go to my documents and rename the file. Before you type your information, close the file and open it again to make sure it saved someplace that you can retrieve it from.
Quay County 4-H encourages all 4-Hers to complete a recordbook for judging using the above forms. But we realize that some may run out of time or something happened and they did not get to complete their project. This form is for those 4-Hers. A completion or project record form must be filled out by all 4-Hers for each project they enrolled in in order to be able to take that project again.
