4-H Youth and Development

Our 4-H program provides a creative a supportive environment in which culturally diverse youth and adults can reach their full potential. Our local county program works to develop life skills to help young people become self-directed, productive citizens. We also work to empower adult volunteers who multiply the efforts of our local county Extension staff.

Our 4-H youth development program is a dynamic non-formal education program. It provides opportunities for youth to learn life skills and gain knowledge while having fun. The life skills learned in 4-H enable youth to become productive, well-informed, self-reliant, responsible adults. The 4-H year runs from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30. The last day to enroll for the new year is January 31, 2020. Enrollment for next year will begin in October. Clubs are: C-C which meets at Logan Methodist Church on the Sunday after the first Tuesday at 4:00 pm., Roadrunners which meets at the Extension Office on the 2nd Monday at 6:30, Tumbleweeds which meets at Logan School Cafeteria on the 2nd Wednesday at 4:00 pm, Wranglers which meets at the Travis Nelson Building (Fairgrounds) on the 2nd Monday at 6:00 pm, and Yuccas which meets on the 3rd Tuesday at San Jon Schools at 5:30 p.m. Call the Extension Office at 461-0562 for the contact leader for the club you are interested in.

Quay County 4-H Record Book Forms

Record books are due to your club leader in October. All 4-Hers may type all parts of their record books. Parents remember this is the 4-Hers record book and the judges will have the discretion to lower points if the work appears to be an adult's. Record books may also be hand written. If you would like forms with lines, send an e-mail to Erin Smith and the forms will be e-mailed. Forms may also be picked up in the Extension Office.

Cloverbuds have their own special record book to submit. Parents can help Cloverbuds complete their forms and with writing. If they complete a record book, they will receive special recognition and prizes at the Achievement Program in November. They are also able to attend the Record Book Reward Party!

The forms Quay County uses are posted below.

Important!!! After you open the record book forms on your internet server, click on file, save as, go to my documents and rename the file. Before you type your information, close the file and open it again to make sure it saved someplace that you can retrieve it from.

Tammy will be happy to work with any 4-Her needing help with the record book forms. Be sure to download the Record Book Instructions. This will help you put your record book in the right order and include the correct forms. Please call the Extension Office at 575-461-0562 if you have any questions.

  • Record Book Signature Page
This page is signed by the 4-H member, parent and club leader. It is the first page in your record book. Parents and leaders can use the comment section.

Quay County 4-H encourages all 4-Hers to complete a record book for judging using the above forms. But we realize that some may run out of time or something happened and they did not get to complete their project. This form is for those 4-Hers. A completion or project record form must be filled out by all 4-Hers for each project they enrolled in in order to be able to take that project again.

Quay County 4-H Letterman Award

This award was started in 2015 and will be given to any Sophomore 4-Her meeting the criteria. A recommendation form is required. Below is the form. Forms may be completed by 4-H leader, project leader, or teacher.

Congratulations to our Outstanding 4-Hers!
